WalkWest Virtual Landmarks Challange

Event: WalkWest Virtual Landmarks Challenge
Locations: Virtual
Year: 2020
Client: Western Health
Charity: Western Health Foundation
www.walkwest.com.au

OVERVIEW

The WalkWest Virtual Landmarks Challenge (WalkWest VLC) was created to replace the traditional Walk West event held annually by our client Western Health. The goal for the virtual event was to create a sense of togetherness within the community of Melbourne’s west and to transition those that had registered for the live walk and were now unable to attend due to it’s postponement as a result of COVID-19. The virtual event also served as an important fundraiser for Western Health.

The event concept, created by King Performance was engaging, fun and different and enveloped the “best of the west.” Participants were asked to walk 42km in 21 days - the distance between landmarks Flemington Racecourse and Werribee Zoo - to raise funds to support Western Health’s healthcare heroes and the health of the community in Melbourne’s west. Virtual rewards were in-built into the website where participants could log their distances and track their progress and fundraising.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • 23% new contacts to Western Health

  • 84% new to WalkWest (did not register for the live event in 2020)

  • 31% active fundraisers

  • Over $140,000 raised
